Additional and Specialist learning
ADDITIONAL & SPECIALIST LEARNING - UPDATE
We continue to work towards populating the ASL catalogue with qualifications that are practical and industry specific; working with the awarding organisations and consulting with teachers and lecturers to produce a lighter version of the Introduction to Professional Cookery, Level 1. We have a framework that we are currently consulting on and feel confident that a solution will be reached by the end of the year.
We are also progressing with the design of a lighter version of the new qualification Food and Beverage Service at levels 1 and 2.
Both light versions are in response to practitioner input and will be built around 200 guided learning hours.
If our proposals are accepted by practitioners and awarding organisations then we are hopeful to have this in the ASL catalogue for February 2010. Watch this space.

GATEWAY 4
Consortia are now preparing to enter Gateway 4 – the Government application process for centres to deliver the Diploma in Hospitality in September 2011.
Consortia can find Hospitality specific information on our website: www.hospitalitydiploma.co.uk.
Consortia will find the Hospitality companion document most useful to gain an insight of the vision and intent, the breadth of the sector and the content. They will also need the Line of Learning criteria, the Core advice and may also find some of the FAQs useful. All these are available for download on our website.
