What's involved?

Diplomas are different from other qualifications. They 'blend' learning in the classroom, with experience in the workplace, so that you get a high quality qualification that equips you with the skills and knowledge you need to get ahead in hospitality - or if you decide hospitality is not for you.

That's the beauty of the Diplomas - they are very flexible: you can choose to study the Diploma on its own, or combine its elements with GCSEs or A-levels.

The Diploma in Hospitality combines broad themes such as:

  • The hospitality industry
  • People in the hospitality industry
  • Business and finance in the hospitality industry
  • Hospitality operations

When can I start?

You can start studying this Diploma when you are 14 years old (in year10) at either Foundation or Higher level, and you can carry on right up to the age of 19 at Advanced level. The Advanced Diploma is equivalent to 3.5 A-levels; this means this qualification will allow you to go to university should you wish to. It will give you the essential knowledge and personal skills that you will need for college, university or work and will help you to make an informed choice about what career you want to follow.
